Aldora Jeanette (Jacobson) Draheim, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2015 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  She was 87 years old.

Aldora was born to Eldred and Helen (Winje) Jacobson on the family farm in Goodhue County, Minnesota, the second of 13 children.

Aldora attended nursing school in Minneapolis, Minnesota and received her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse on November 20, 1948.  She was in the second group of nurses to sit for the licensing exam and received license number 502.  She was employed at the Glen Lake Sanatorium in Hopkins and the Kanabec County Hospital in Mora, Minnesota.

Aldora loved the Lord and served Him faithfully as a 3rd grade Sunday School teacher at Emanuel Baptist Church in Mora, Minnesota, as well as being active in many other aspects of church life.  She never missed an opportunity to share her faith with others and continued to do so even as she resided at the Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie.

Among her many and varied interests were watching the Minnesota Twins, country music (who knew?) and making hand tied baby blankets.  Each day she spent time in Bible study and prayer.  She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and was always up for a good Lutefisk dinner.

Aldora was preceded in death by her parents, husband of nearly 50 years Stanley, son Steven, four brothers, Bernard, Orville, Allan and Harold Jacobson.

She is survived by son Charles (Jean) Draheim of White Bear Lake; daughters, Charlotte (David) Ellison of Golden Valley and Shannah (Randy) Peterson of Bloomington; grand-children, Kristin (Richard) Willers, Justin Ellison, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Peterson, Brad Peterson, Michelle (Jake) Calleja and Allison Draheim; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Luke and Wyatt; five sisters, Ruth, Rachel, Grace, Gladys, and Sharon; and three brothers, Stanley, Erling and Luther as well as over 60 nieces and nephews.

  2. Aldora was a kind encouragement to me as a young nurse, and I was able to forward her excellent advice to others as the years have passed. Remembering you all in prayer.

  3. Chuck, Jean and family,

Your mother sounded like a wonderful person. Our prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

  4. I always loved Aldora as a co-worker and patient. She was a sweetheart and I have missed her since her move to the Twin Cities. We first met in 1970’s when I started at the hospital as a nurses aid and then worked with her when I became a RN. She was my nurse more than once after surgery and always took such good care of me. She was a blessing to many and a very special lady. My prayers and sympathy. Sherri Borg
