Marian Marguerite McNally, of Ogilvie, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015.  She was 98 years old.

Marian was born on May 20, 1917, to Samuel and Mildred (Mowry) Ziegler at South Fork Township, Kanabec County, Minnesota.  She attended elementary school at the Hancock School (known as Denzer) and graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1934.

Marian was united in marriage to Byrl McNally and they were blessed with five children.  Byrl and Marian spent their first years of marriage in Grass Lake Township.  They moved to their family farm south of Ogilvie in 1947 where Marian continued to live until January, 2013.

Marian had many interests.  She was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles and playing all types of board games.  She was a wonderful baker, known for her pies and homemade bread.  Marian enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, camping and tending her lawn and gardens.  She was a talented quilter and made life quilts for her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed embroidery and passed on her knowledge and expertise to all of her grandchildren.

Marian was a very active member of the Lewis Lake Covenant Church since moving to the Ogilvie area.  She taught Bible School, participated in the Ladies Aid, the Covenant Missionary groups, and Bible Studies.  Marian’s deep Christian faith was an example to her family and all who knew her.  She will be dearly missed.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dick Ziegler, sisters, Lois James, Bernice Kleven, and Harriet Thomson, and great granddaughter Illiana Sorenson.

She is survived by her children, Dennis (Jeanne) of Ogilvie; Virgil “Joe” (Darlene) of Aitkin; Arden (Sheri) of Cannon Falls; Phyllis (Earl) Bracewell of Ogilvie; and Lollie (Jim) Schewe of Nisswa; 11 grandchildren, Brad, Melissa, Larry, Kim, Daris, Kelly, Kristy, Mark, Bridget, Kerry, and Patrick; 19 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Carroll; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

  1. I am saddened to hear of Marians passing. I really enjoyed the time I spent with her not so long ago. She had the best giggle and was such a “spit fire”. My sympathies to her family.

  2. Our deepest sympathy goes out to you Dennis and your family. Your mother was such a gracious lady.
From your friend in Arizona, Emil & Judy Sutton. God Bless you all.
