FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Greggory Coop officiating.

VISITATION will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INTERMENT will be held at 11:15 am on Tuesday, August 4, 2015- Assembly Area #4 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Martha V. Stromberg, of Mora, MN, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2015 at the Edina Care Center in Edina, MN, due to complications of a stroke.  She was 98 years old.

Martha was born on February 20, 1917, in Brazil, Indiana to Herbert and Margaret (Hofmann) Roeschlein.  As a young child, she also lived in Nebraska before her family moved to Minnesota – residing in the Milaca and Isle areas.

On May 7, 1939, she married the love of her life, Gordon “Gordy” Stromberg, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, Minnesota.  She and Gordy eventually moved to Minneapolis where they began their family.

As a young woman, she did day work for many families in Minneapolis.  Her children were blessed to have her as a stay at home mom.  She was active in the PTA, Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, was the Church Council President of Salem English Lutheran Church, and was a Head Election Judge for many years.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a wonderful cook and baker.  Cookies, pies, pickles, and doughnuts were her specialties.  She always looked forward to the annual Krumkaka party.  She loved to sew, crochet, and embroider.  She also loved to make beautiful quilts which she shared with her family and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Gordon; brothers,  Clifford Roeschlein, Ray Roeschlein, Frank Roeschlein, and John Roeschlein; sisters Helen Kadlec and Lela Bruggeman.

She is survived by her sons, Darwin (Carol) Stromberg of Bloomington, Gregory (Carol) Stromberg of Minneapolis, Tom (Judy) Roeschlein of Mora and daughter, Munda (Bob) Forbort of Duluth; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Walter Roeschlein, and Harold (Connie) Roeschlein; sister-in-law, Bernice Stromberg ; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

    Sorry we couldn’t make the service. We got home late last night, and I thought you told me on the phone that the service was going to be on Tues. Anyway, just want you to know our prayers and well wishes to you and your family. May God give the peace that passes all understanding… Terry & Deb Kendall.
