D. Elizabeth “Betts” Larrew of Mora, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at St. Clare Living Community in Mora. She was 86 years old.

Betts was born Doris Elizabeth Augusin on November 14, 1928 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Sven E. and Ruth N. (Carlson) Augusin.  Betts was the eldest of two girls and adored her younger sister, Joyce. They shared a very special relationship. Betts graduated from South High School in Worcester MA in 1946. Betts accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior as a young adult. Her faith and relationship with Jesus was the defining passion of her life. She worked many jobs to put herself through college. Betts graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Providence Bible Institute in Providence, RI in 1953. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Worcester State Teachers College in Worcester, MA in 1954. Betts received her Master of Arts from the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO in 1974. As a single woman for many years, Betts was the beloved, “Auntie Betsy” to Joyce’s three children, Deborah, Patricia “Tricia” and Kevin, whom she cherished as if they were her own. Betts taught elementary school and later junior high at Houghton School in Sterling, MA; retiring in 1975. Betts was a former member of Belmont Street Baptist Church in Worcester, MA where she served and taught Sunday School for many years.

Betts moved to Texas when she married widower Marvin Fred Larrew on July 11, 1975 at Grace Bible Church in Dallas and became a stepmother to Fred’s children: Steve, Keren and Craig. In 1977, Fred and Betts moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they lived for 33 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, painting, needlepoint, and traveling with her husband. Betts regularly prayed for her family. Betts treasured all her grandchildren and included her nieces’ children in this precious group.

In 2010, as Betts’ health declined, she and Fred decided to move to Mora, MN to be near her niece, Deborah and family who lovingly cared for them.

Betts was preceded in death by her parents and other relatives.

Betts is survived by her husband Fred of Mora; stepchildren, Steve Larrew of Dallas, TX, Keren (Randy) McAlister of Keller, TX, Craig (Joanna) Larrew of Rocklin, CA; grandchildren, Jonathan Larrew, Kandace (Pascal) Licciardi, Ryan McAlister, Tim McAlister, Kristan (Luke) Rosenblum; Nicholas, Tyler and James Larrew; great-grandson Luke Upshaw; sister R.
