Phyllis Elizabeth (Schewe) Haase passed away on January 5, 2015 at 88 years of age. Phyllis was born on May 24, 1926, in Illinois, to Charles and Ada (Gibbs) Schewe. At a young age, she moved with her parents and siblings, Bob and Cleo
(Hass), to Ogilvie.

Phyllis married George Haase in 1942. While raising their children, they lived various places in Minnesota. The family eventually settled in Bloomington, MN where they lived from 1948 until 1967. Phyllis was a hard-working homemaker who also helped in her husband’s business. For years she worked in the Bloomington School District kitchen. George and Phyllis moved back to the Mora area in 1974, where she worked in the Mora School District kitchen. During retirement years, Phyllis and George were “snowbirds” in Arizona and enjoyed traveling.

Phyllis cherished her family. Her children, grandchildren, great‐grandchildren and great‐great‐grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a woman of faith whose beliefs were evident in the way she lived her life. Phyllis was very active throughout her life and had many interests. She could often be found outside in her yard and garden. The flowers were admired by many and the bounty of vegetables was generously shared. When not outside, Phyllis was involved in making hundreds of quilts for those in need.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, George; her daughter, Kathleen Wadsworth; grandchildren, Jennifer Wadsworth and Nicholas Haase; great‐grandson, Chad Kramer and brother, Bob Schewe. Phyllis is survived by her children, Denny (Karen), Lonnie (Pat), Harley (Deb), Sue (Fred) Renich, Pattie (David)L’Heureux, John (Pam); 24 grandchildren, 46 great‐grandchildren, 3 great‐great‐grandchildren; sister, Cleo Hass; and other relatives.

  1. I think it was around 1983-84 that I met Phyllis & George at the trailer court in Princeton. There were many of us kids (I was 10) that enjoyed spending time at their house. Such a nice couple. Time & people move on. Skip ahead 30 years and one day Phyllis shows up at my office, out of the blue. She was living in Mora, and seeing the last name of our business, decided to come see if it was me. We had a lovely visit. I’m so thankful she took that chance. My sincere sympathy to the family. Rest in Peace, Phyllis.

  2. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. I am sure Phyllis is in a better place and at peace.
May the family find comfort and strength in the Lord.

  3. Phyllis was a wonderful person, always smiling, when I would visit she most likely be in her garden or just working on the lawn. I will truly miss her
