R. Toay webphotoRuth Toay, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the FirstLight Health System in Mora.  She was 85 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be held from 5 -7 pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Chapel in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

INTERMENT will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mora.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the U of M Masonic Cancer Center (cancer.umn.edu) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).

Ruth Elaine Toay, of Mora, Minnesota, formerly of Burnsville and Richfield, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the FirstLight Health System in Mora.  She was 85 years old.

Ruth was born in Williston, North Dakota on September 26, 1929 to parents Joseph and Mabel (Wizer) Munyer.

Ruth retired after 28 years of dedicated service to Family Medical/Fairview Clinic in Minneapolis and was an active member of the St. Martha’s Mission Circle in Mora.

Ruth will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years, James P. “Pat” Toay;  her 6 children and their spouses, Patty Woodard, Mike, David (Kathy), Dan, Eileen (Dan) Kownslar, and Jim (Lynn); 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Bill (Anita) Munyer and George Munyer; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mabel (Wizer) Munyer; sisters, Eleanor Munyer and Virginia Ablan; brother Don Munyer; sisters-in-law, Bernice Munyer and Beverly Munyer; and brother-in-law John Ablan.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora with Fr. William Vos and Rita Clasemann officiating.  Music was provided by Patty Paul, Jean Mork and St. Mary’s Choir. Pallbearers were James Toay II, Philip Kownslar, Dan Toay, Dan Kownslar, Spencer Toay and David Toay.  Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Toay, Joseph Toay and Cavin Horton.  Interment was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery

    We are so very sorry for your loss. May God help to heel your broken hearts. Aunt Ruth was such a sweet lady and we will miss her dearly. I’m proud to have been named after such a special lady. I know that my mom was standing in the front with open arms to welcome her little sister when she arrived in heaven.
