Howard Schindeldecker, of Mora, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at his home. He was 78 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Chapel in Mora.
MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service.
INTERMENT will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Howard William Schindeldecker, age 78, went to be with his Lord on January 4, 2015 at his home in rural Mora, Minnesota.
The oldest of eleven children, Howard was born on December 3, 1936 to William August and Helen (Dahlberg) Schindeldecker.
He grew up around farm life. In 1952 he quit school at the age of 16 and began working for various farmers. He also worked at Mendota Country Club where he was employed for approximately 12 years. In 1957 he married Karen Joyce Mortensen. They were blessed with two boys. In 1965 Howard moved his small family to Mora, MN where he became a dairy farmer for the next 25 years. To supplement the farming he worked for several years at Dahlman’s Manufacturing of Braham and for various local farmers.
His first marriage ended in divorce. He later married Carol Lynn Dalbey. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening and raising chickens.
Howard’s hobbies included collecting gas engines, John Deere Tractors, and most recently cistern pumps. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mora, for many years. Recent years found him attending Riverside Fellowship and Mission Center.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and Leonard, two infant siblings (one twin brother and one sister) as well as two infant children (a boy and a girl); also his first wife Karen and second wife Carol.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Ann) Schindeldecker of Braham and Steve (Gloria) Schindeldecker of Mora; sisters, Margaret (Jim) Brown, Lorraine (Bill) Wolfe, Linda (David) Matheson, Marion (Jack) Hansen, brothers, Maynard, Edward, Bernard, and David (Lydia) Schindeldecker; as well as step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and friends.
