FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11: 00 am on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis officiating.

VISITATION will be held from 5- 7 pm on Tuesday, November 11th at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

INTERMENT will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.

Darvin Edward LaFrenz passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti, MN.  He was 89 years old.

Darvin was born on September 28, 1925 to Claus and Johanna (Krueger) LaFrenz at Bruno, Minnesota.  He grew up in Moose Lake, graduating from Moose Lake High School in 1944.  In February of 1945, Davrin was drafted in the United States Army.  After his honorable discharge in November of 1946, Darvin returned home where he helped his father on the farm as well as doing various other jobs including working at the paper mill in Cloquet.

On June 10, 1948, Darvin married Erma Schlenker in McLaughlin, South Dakota. They lived in McLaughlin for five years where he worked harvesting for farmers and working at the lumber yard.

The couple moved back to Minneapolis in 1953 and Darvin worked as a plumber for a short while before being employed by Minnesota Linseed. The family lived in Circle Pines and Northeast Minneapolis until they bought a farm near Dalbo in 1960.  Darvin farmed until 1977 when they sold the farm and moved to Stanchfield.  Darvin worked at the Braham Locker and Aurelius until he retired in 1987.  Darvin and Erma moved to Park Manor Senior Housing in Braham in 2004.  Shortly after Erma’s passing in 2013, Darvin moved to Prairie Senior Cottages in Isanti where he lived his final year.

Davin enjoyed gardening and always had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens while living in the country.  He did wood working and made furniture and toys for his family and friends.   Davin loved fishing and hunting.  He did deer processing and sausage making for many years.  He also enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles.

Darvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Erma, a brother in infancy, brother, John; sisters, Henrietta and LaVina; and nephew Troy.

He is survived by his son, Craig LaFrenz; daughter, Debbie (Curt) Johnson; 5 grandchildren, Sherry (Greg) Pearson, Jerry (Tina) LaFrenz, Tiffany (Craig) Moulton, Cody Johnson, and Courtney (Alex) Aceveda; 9 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Dylan, Dakota, Jessie, Logan, Cole, Dawson, Sebastian, and Katalina; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Wed. Nov 12, 2014 at the Braham Ev. Lutheran Church Rev. Rich Chronis officiating. Music was provided by June Butler. Casket Bearers were: George Grieger, Paul Linda, James Knudtson, Joe Broker, Dave Westerberg, and Denny Pilola; Honorary Casket Bearers were: Ben Hillis, Jerry LaFrenz, Cody Johnson, Sherry Pearson, Tiffany Moulton, Courtney Acevendo, and Mike Gustafson. Interment was at Rice Lake Cemetery in Braham.  Military Honors were provided.  Arrangements with Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham. Condolences may be posted at www.aifuneralhome.com
