L. Norby webLoren Norby, of Mora, MN, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the Elim Home in Princeton, MN.  He was 87 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.

VISITATION will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 31st at the funeral home; plus 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.

INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Carl Loren Norby, of Mora, MN, passed away on October 28, 2014 at Elim Home in Princeton, MN.  He was 87 years old.

Loren was born on July 12, 1927 in Peace Township, Kanabec County, MN to Ole and Blanda (Johnson) Norby.  He was the youngest of six siblings and attended Warman Country School through the 8th grade.  In 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II.  While in the service he married Peggy Smith and to this union four children were born. 

Loren was an auctioneer for 50 years.  He was a true entertainer at heart and loved playing the accordion.  He looked forward to deer hunting each and every year. 

He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings.

Loren is survived by his children Dennis (Diane) Norby, Kevin Norby, Diane (Danny) Johnson and Donnie (Lona) Norby; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 1st at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Chapel with Rev. Dan Hair and Rev. Clyde Dalbey officiating.  Music was provided by Terry Nord.  Casket bearers were Travis Johnson, Samuel Johnson, Chance Norby, Dusty Norby, Jason Norby and Josh Norby.  Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.  Military Honors were provided by the Mora American Legion Post #201.

I’m Very sorry to see that Loren has passed away , We had been friends from the 60’s At times we spent a quite a bit of time together , We worked together at times , Loren was always good for a laugh and quick to come up with a story , He was known for being a great Auctioneer , And he loved driving truck and running heavy equipment . R I P Loren Old Buddy

  2. I am blessed to have had Loren for my uncle and he has always had a special place in my heart. I have many good memories, and one of them is his love of music. Danced many a mile to his accordion music. I will miss you, Unke. Marlene
