Fillmore Floyd Stromquist, of Braham, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  He was 90 years old.

Fillmore was born on January 2, 1924 in North Branch, Minnesota to parents Axel and Anna (Carlson) Stromquist.   Fillmore served in the Army Air Force and was very proud of being a veteran.  His life long career was in the car business.  In his early years, he owned two service stations in Rush City.  Fillmore was awarded the Legion of Leaders Salesman Award during his time as a salesman at Central Chevrolet in North Branch.  In 1970 he purchased the Chevrolet garage in Braham, renaming it Stromquist Chevrolet that was the pride and joy of the family.   Fillmore retired in 1985, but was always buying a new car.  He was scheduled to pick up his last purchase but passed away the day before.   He truly was buying and selling until his last day.

Fillmore’s passion was for automobiles but his first love was for his family.  He especially enjoyed hunting with his sons and spoiling his wife and daughter.   He will be deeply missed by his family.

Fillmore is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Dennis H. Stromquist; sisters-in-law, Delores “Toots” Stromquist and Vernell Stromquist; and nephew Richie Stromquist.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances; children, Jane (Eugene) Haugaard, Dale Stromquist (former spouse Donna); and Brian (Lynn) Stromquist; grandchildren, Delain (Tommy) Foster; Diana “Scoots” Stromquist (Fiancé James), Dale (Lisa) Stromquist, and Parker Stromquist; great grandchildren, Kiya, Zayda, Ellee, Maddy, Dale “Spike”, Dalanna, and Daphne; brothers, Einar Stromquist and Elmer (Joyce) Stromquist; sisters, Gladys (Herb) Paul and Dorothy (Gene) Hansen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis officiating.  Music was provided by Fillmore’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Military Honors were provided by the Braham VFW Post #1731.  Inurnment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City.  Arrangements were by the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home in Braham.
