Caroline K. (Olson) Peterson of Cambridge, formerly of Braham, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Gracepointe Crossing West Gables in Cambridge, MN. She was 89 years old.

Caroline was born on September 20, 1924, the daughter of Ador and Regina (Lodien) Olson. She grew up and attended country schools in various communities in the Isanti vicinity (Blomford, Bodum & finally Isanti itself). There was also a short time spent in Big Fork, MN.  She was baptized at the North Isanti Baptist Church.  The Lodien & Olson family heritage included many of the original members of the Swedish Baptist communities in the Isanti area. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1942.  After graduation she held various clerical jobs including the WWII Isanti County Rationing Office, an insurance agency in Minneapolis, and the Isanti Bank.

On June 19, 1953 she married Kenneth Peterson and they resided in Braham where she spent many years as a homemaker raising her four children.  In later years she worked in the Braham School District cafeteria until her retirement.  She was long time active member of the Stanchfield Baptist Church – serving as church treasurer, choir member, and deaconess among other roles.  She was a founding and active member of Industries, Inc. and active in the Pine-Kanabec ARC.

Following her husband’s death in 2004 she moved to Ashland Place in Cambridge where she resided for a number of years before moving to Gracepointe Crossings.

Caroline is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; brothers, Myron, Bennett and Fillmore; sister, Eileen Wicklund; and great granddaughter Erica Peterson.

She is survived by her sons, Daryl of Robbinsdale, Duane (Susan) of Minneapolis, and Bruce (Lori) of Norwood, MA; daughter, Beth Peterson of Cambridge; grandchildren, Cassandra (Matthew) Hanudel, Eric (Amy) Peterson, Kirstin (Mark) Sullivan, Jacob (Tomoe) Peterson, Lewis Peterson, and Sally Peterson; great grandchildren, Madelyn Peterson, Nathaniel Peterson, and Audrey Hanudel; sisters-in-law, Adelle Olson, Phyllis Olson, Betty Peterson, Lois Peterson, and Helen Anderson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was a loving wife and mother to her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her faith in God and devotion to her family, church and many friends. Even in the last days when memory failed, her unassuming patient, kind, and gentle manner shone through.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Stanchfield Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Bruce Peterson and Rev. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to all the family. Caroline was one of the sweetest ladies that I have ever met. We both always enjoyed seeing her. I was blessed to have experienced her support as a parent of my student Beth. Beth has touched my life in a lasting, loving way. We both will be working on Saturday, but please know that you will be in our prayers. May God’s peace and love surround you at this time. Beth often left this message on my blackboard at the end of the school day- “Jesus loves you!”. Your family is in our thoughts.
