A. Wurm webphotoAlan M. Wurm, of Pine City, died on Friday, July 18, 2014 at First Light Health System in Mora.  He was 54 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am. on Wednesday, July 23 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 18151 Moonlight Drive, Pine City, MN.

VISITATION will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 5-8 pm. at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora; and also one hr. prior to the service on Wednesday at the church in Pine City.

Alan M. Wurm, of Pine City, Minnesota; passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 of cancer, surrounded by his family at the FirstLight Health System in Mora.  He was 54 years old.

Alan was born on January 13, 1960, the second of six children.  He grew up on the family farm near Pine City where his lifelong love of farming and tractors began.  He attended Pine City High School, graduating in 1978.   After school, Al began his farming career.  He worked for the Kraft Farms and Pangerl Farms on and off throughout his life.  Al spent a number of years as a heavy equipment operator, working for Bob Jones Construction, Bury and Carlson, and Frattalone’s Construction.  Al enjoyed his hobby farm and raising beef cattle.  From 2006-2014, Al worked as the Grader Operator for Pokegama Township.  He took great pride in his work; taking good care of his grader and keeping the roads smooth.

Al loved farming.  He loved tractors, especially his Farmall A.  Al could tinker, fix and rebuild almost anything.  He enjoyed fishing in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter months.  He was a member of the Hinckley/Pine City Flames Snowmobiling Club and for several years taught snowmobile and ATV Safety.  Al will be remembered for his hardworking attitude, his sometimes stubborn behavior, and always for his loving spirit.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Al is survived by his wife Trisha; daughter Alyssa Bursott; father, John (Marian) Wurm; mother, Mary Ann Wurm; daughter, Miranda (Anthony) Rangel; son, Charlie Rich; grandchildren, Brittany Edin, Wyatt Edin, Ashley Edin, and Alexia Rich; great grandson, Liam Seifert; brother, Chris Wurm; sisters, Helen Hutchins, Elizabeth Wurm, Anne Groe, Stephanie Wurm, Deanne (Randy) Johnson, Ann (Doug) Peterson, Linda (Eric) Heilman, and Beth (Craig) Erickson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ LDS in Pine City with Steve Cottingham officiating.  Music was provided by Ed Pangerl, Kim Bever, Kevin Cahill, and Robert Linton.  Casket Bearers were Charlie Rich, Wyatt Edin, Ted Kraft, Kenny Behrens, Kevin Herber, and Terry Shephard.

  1. We will miss Al and his courageous,loving spirit: he has been an inspiration for me in my battle with my illness.

    We will always remember that special time in the St. Paul Temple where your family was sealed for time and all eternity and we know you will always cherish that moment.

    From time to time you will feel Al’s spirit with you and more so in your work in the temples..
