Beverly Ann Gustafson of Mora, MN passed away December 21, 2013 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.  She was 58 years old.

Bev was born December 22, 1954 to Alvin and Dorothy (Erickson) Jensen.  She grew up on the family farm with three sisters.  She attended the Whittier country school for three years.  She graduated from Mora High School in 1972.  She moved to Minneapolis and worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield.  She returned to Mora and attended Pine City Vocational School.  Bev met her current husband Douglas Gustafson while working at the Kanabec History Museum.  They married on September 5, 1987.  Together they had two children – Brandt and Jenna.

In recent years she worked at Lakes and Pines in the energy assistance department and Brighter Day as a direct support professional.    Bev enjoyed family, gardening, bird watching, traveling and cooking.  She worked as a baker the summer of 1983 at Yes Bay Lodge in Alaska.  She has been famous ever since for her cookies.  She traveled throughout the US, Mexico, Scandinavia, and the Caribbean.

Bev’s kindness, fun loving (zany) spirit and dry sense of humor were cherished by everyone who knew her.  She was a quiet, reserved person.  But she was someone who always stood up for her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Jensen.

She is survived by husband Douglas Gustafson, son Brandt Gustafson, daughter Jenna Gustafson (Colton Kizzire), grandson Ethan Kizzire, father Alvin Jensen, sisters Janice, Barbara and Kathy Jensen, loving relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mary Lagaard NP, Pastor Dean Oelfke, and her husband Doug for their special care and compassion.

  4. I will remember Bev for her beautiful smile and laughing eyes. She loved her family!
She had a loving and kind spirit and a gentle heart. Both Brandt and Jenna inherited that from her.
I have her cookie recipes and every time I make them I think of her.
I loved her and will miss her.

  5. I was sorry to hear of Bev’s passing. I worked with Bev’s at Lakes and Pines. She had a gentle spirit and a kind heart. My sympathies to her family and friends. Rest in peace, Bev.

  6. Bev was my best friend from grade school at Whittier country school through graduation at Mora High in 1972. We shared so much over the years. So many stories… more than can be conveyed in a short space. We re-connected when I moved back to MN in the mid-eighties. She is a huge part of my past, and I love her. So sorry to hear of your passing, dear friend.
