Beverly Gustafson, of Mora, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at her home in Mora. She was 58 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Dean Oelfke officiating.
MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church, starting at 10:00 a.m.
INURNMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Beverly Ann Gustafson of Mora, MN passed away December 21, 2013 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. She was 58 years old.
Bev was born December 22, 1954 to Alvin and Dorothy (Erickson) Jensen. She grew up on the family farm with three sisters. She attended the Whittier country school for three years. She graduated from Mora High School in 1972. She moved to Minneapolis and worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield. She returned to Mora and attended Pine City Vocational School. Bev met her current husband Douglas Gustafson while working at the Kanabec History Museum. They married on September 5, 1987. Together they had two children – Brandt and Jenna.
In recent years she worked at Lakes and Pines in the energy assistance department and Brighter Day as a direct support professional. Bev enjoyed family, gardening, bird watching, traveling and cooking. She worked as a baker the summer of 1983 at Yes Bay Lodge in Alaska. She has been famous ever since for her cookies. She traveled throughout the US, Mexico, Scandinavia, and the Caribbean.
Bev’s kindness, fun loving (zany) spirit and dry sense of humor were cherished by everyone who knew her. She was a quiet, reserved person. But she was someone who always stood up for her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Jensen.
She is survived by husband Douglas Gustafson, son Brandt Gustafson, daughter Jenna Gustafson (Colton Kizzire), grandson Ethan Kizzire, father Alvin Jensen, sisters Janice, Barbara and Kathy Jensen, loving relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mary Lagaard NP, Pastor Dean Oelfke, and her husband Doug for their special care and compassion.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on January 6, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with visitation one hour before the service. Rev. Dean Oelfke will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora. Arrangements are being handled by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora.
