H. Hanson webphotoHans Hanson, of Mora, died on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at First Light Health System in Mora. He was 91 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Douglas Larson officiating.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

INURNMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora on a later date.

Harold “Hans” Hanson died on November 24, 2013, at the First Light Hospital in Mora.

He was born in Cambridge, Minnesota, on June 21, 1922 to Hans and Christine (Westerberg) Hanson of Cambridge.

He was united in marriage to Juanita Nordeen on September 3, 1948. They resided in Cambridge for five years before moving to Mora where he owned and operated Hans’ Home Furnishings for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Nita passed away June 1989. The following year he and Muriel Gorham began their special friendship, which lasted 23 years until his death.

Hans derived great pleasure from spending time with friends on the golf course and winning various golf trophies. He loved the outdoors, and as a long-time Scoutmaster enjoyed camping and hiking with the Boy Scouts as well as attending national jamborees. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was involved in Mora’s Lions Club, the Vasaloppet, and various other community activities. 

He is survived by two daughters, Kandice (Mark Bierle) of St. Paul, Minnesota, Paula Hall (grandsons Devon and Adam Hall) of New River, Arizona; one brother, Hubert (Marilyn) of Florida; beloved friend Muriel Gorham of Mora; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. Pastor Douglas Larson officiated. Music was provided by Jacki Peterson.  Honorary urn bearers were Bob Dahloff, Rick Anderson, Don Franko, George Christie, Dave Ulstrom and Glen Lobdell.  Inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery.

  2. Hans was Troop 191 Scoutmaster to so many of us young guys back in the 50s & 60s. What a great guy and great role model. Rest in peace, Hans. Condolences to Hans’ family.

  3. Muriel & family, I will always remember Hans as a very good friend. We drove to many athletic events, basketball, football, and of course golf outings. He was a customer of mine, but he was more then that, he was a true friend. I will miss him dearly. Take care. Will see you this summer, Muriel.
