O. Eckardt webOra Eckardt, of Ogilvie, died on Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 at Signe and Olivia’s Assisted Living.  She was 84 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 28th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora, with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.

MEMORIAL VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Ora Clare Eckardt, of Ogilvie, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Signe and Olivia’s Assisted Living in Ogilvie.  She was 84 years old.

Ora was born on January 29, 1929 in Jamestown, North Dakota to parents Herman and Clare (Phillippe) Etter.  Born the eldest daughter of thirteen children, she grew up on the family farm near Wimbledon, North Dakota until the family relocated to a farm near Ogilvie in November of 1941.  Ora attended Ogilvie High School, graduating in 1947.  On June 12, 1947, Ora was united in marriage to Edward Eckardt at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie.  The couple settled on a farm near Ogilvie and were blessed with one daughter, Alice.  Ora worked on the farm with Edward and also kept the books for Benson Lumber in Ogilvie.  In 1991, Ora and Edward retired from full time farming.   During retirement, Ora and Edward enjoyed many trips to visit family and friends in Indiana, Florida, Kentucky, and Oregon.

Ora enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.  She loved watching the many birds that visited her feeders.  Ora was a wonderful baker and her home was always the center for family gatherings.  She enjoyed crocheting and made quilts for many family members.  She was also an avid reader and loved to eat ice cream.  Ora was a longtime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

Ora was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Alice (Ernest Jr. ) Percy of Blaine; grandchildren, Caitlin, Amanda, Jessica, and Matt (Jen) Percy; great grandchildren Maximillian and Logan; sister, Joanne (James) Munstertieger of Mora; brothers, Wally (Edith) Etter of Mora, Bob (Alice) Etter of Isle, Tom Etter of St. Paul, and Jerry (Janice) Etter of Ogilvie; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.  Music was provided by Jacki Peterson.  Honorary Urn Bearers were Ora’s grandchildren, Caitlin, Amanda, Jessica, Matt, and Jen.  Arrangements are by the Akkerman Ingebrand  Funeral Home of Mora.

    I will always remember Aunt Ora as the kindest and sweetest person I ever met. She always made me feel so welcome at her home. I will miss her.

    My deepest sympathy to all of Ora’s family. She was a great neighbor and friend. I will miss her smile, kindness, and our visits. Peace.
