Dale Edward Troupe of Ogilvie passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 68 years old.
Dale was born to parents Edwin Fay and Avarita (Gruwell) Troupe on November 3, 1944 in Braham, Minnesota. Dale graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1962. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He was honorably discharged early to take over the family farm when his father suffered a debilitating heart attack. He married Lois Kunz on September 11, 1965, and they lived on the family farm their entire marriage. Dale operated a tree service and also worked as a cement finisher. He worked waterproofing and roofing with his sons and his last years with the union he worked with Lois. Activities that Dale enjoyed included broomball, trap shooting, guitar, softball, fishing, trapping, and camping. But hunting with the Hass boys and other good friends was his passion especially the annual deer season with his sons and grandchildren and his brother Lyle. Once he called work and said, “I can’t see! I can’t see coming into work today because it is the first day of deer hunting.” Dale was great with the one- liners. Dale loved watching westerns, making maple syrup, gardening, and canning venison and garden produce.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and two half-sisters Betty Azzaro and Norma Park. He is survived by his wife Lois of 48 years, sons Kevin (Janelle) and Dan “Romie” (Amy) of Ogilvie and Michael (Shelly) of Cambridge; grandchildren Ramanda, Renita, Ashley, Dexter, Tyler, Dillon, Kayla, Ryan, Dale, and Travis; brother Lyle (Betty); sisters Margery (Don) Koll and Nancy (Dave) Lange; six great-granddaughters and many nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Ogilvie American Legion Post # 640.
