Harold R. Carda of Brook Park, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. He was 78 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Greg Coop officiating.
MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held one hour prior to the service.
Harold Rudolph Carda, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on June 9, 2013 at his home. He was 78 years old.
Harold was born on May 14, 1935 in Kanabec County, Minnesota to parents Rudolph and Gladys (Backlund) Carda. He grew up the eldest of four siblings and attended Mora High School. Harold’s first job was with Douglas Buckley hauling logs. He then bought a truck and hauled canned milk for several years. He joined the 49er’s union and went to work several years for Arcon Construction.
Harold and Joleen (Regner) were married on January 25, 1980, each bringing three children into the family. On May 31, 1997, after 20 years of service, Harold retired from the Kanabec County Highway Department. After retirement, he continued his love of farming (cattle, horses, and crops) and putting up firewood. His hobbies included hunting and watching wild birds and animals from his dining room window. He looked forward to hunting season when family and friends would stop in for coffee and cookies and share their hunting stories.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; infant half-brother, Robert; and half-sister, Kathurn VanHalder.
He is survived by his wife, Joleen; sons, Larry (Lorraine) and Jon (Stacy); daughter, Laura (Daryl) Swenson; step-sons, Jeff Mast, Gary Mast, and Brian Mast; brothers, Lloyd (Helen) and Gene (Rosalie); sister, Shirley Madison; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service held on June 12, 2013 at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora with Rev. Greggory Coop officiating. Music was provided by Scott Schaar and Karen Kirschner-Danielson. Honorary Urn Bearers were Nicole Mast, Kelly Mast, Justin Mast, Stacy Sullivan, Shannon Felland, and Michael Carda.
