David Lee Rodenborg, of Mora, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013. He was 55 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Heidi Rodenborg of Mora; his son Daniel (Tricia) Rodenborg of Mora; 3 granddaughters Annie, Karleigh and Kynleigh Rodenborg; his mother Betty Rodenborg of Mora; brothers Vernon Rodenborg of Mora, Ivan (Becky) Rodenborg of St. Cloud, and John Rodenborg of Mora; sisters Irene (Paul) Pojanowski of Blaine, and Cindy (Allan) Motschenbacher of Mora; 3 sisters-in-law Leslie Holliday, Penny Holliday and Shannon (Daryle) Ekleberry; one brother-in-law Dave Holliday; father-in-law Melvin Wicklund and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
David was born July 1, 1957 and raised in Mora, MN. He graduated from Mora High School in 1975. He briefly worked in Mora, and then worked at Cornelius in Anoka for almost 25 years. After that he started “Dave’s Lawn & Snow” business. He loved being his own boss and being able to work outdoors. He also drove school bus for Mora schools for over 35 years, both part-time and full-time. He enjoyed seeing all the bright eyes and smiley faces of the children on his bus route each day.
He met his wife Heidi on a “so called” blind date at RC Roller Rink in early spring of 1977. Love blossomed and they married October 22, 1977. The following October they were blessed with an amazing son, Daniel. Even though he was small and fragile he had his daddy’s determination and fight; and has always made his dad proud.
He adored and loved his granddaughters Annie, Karleigh and Kynleigh very much. They were literally the “sunshine of his life.” Their smiles, laughter and angel faces made him so happy to be with them. He always enjoyed talking and laughing with everyone; either sitting around the large table at Freddie’s Restaurant with family, out on the job, or visiting with neighbors he had a welcoming smile and a kindness that was seen by everyone.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone his kindness touched. He left a large hole in our lives, but Dave will forever have a place in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father Everette Rodenborg, brother Everette Rodenborg Jr. and mother-in-law Joan Wicklund.
