Marvin Ronald Provost, of Braham, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Fairview Lakes Reg. Medical Center in Wyoming, Minnesota.  He was 72 years old.

Marvin, lovingly known as Ronald, was born on September 24, 1940 in Britton, South Dakota to parents Henry and Sadie (Saari) Provost.   Ronald grew up in Ellendale, North Dakota on the family farm.  He attended country school and graduated from Guelph High School in 1959.   Ronald began farming with his father at the age of thirteen and continued after graduation.  On October 17, 1959 Ronald was united in marriage to June Sund in Oakes, North Dakota.  The couple made their first home on the Provost homestead until moving to their farm near Braham in 1961.   Ronald raised dairy and beef cows, feeder pigs, and crop farmed over the next 50 years.  For many years, Ronald served as President of the Kanabec County Feeder Pig Association.  In 1990, Ronald sold the dairy cows but continued to farm.  In 2001, Ronald and June sold the farmhouse and built a new home just down the road from the farm.  In 2011, Ronald finally fully retired from farming.

Ronald loved farming but also had many hobbies.  He enjoyed woodworking and made crosses and hymn number holders for the Siloa Lutheran church where he and June were members. Ronald was an inventor—always coming up with a new gadget or piece of equipment to make a job easier.  He was a talented mechanic and could fix most anything.  He was also very generous with his time and talents, helping out neighbors and friends in need.  Ronald and June enjoyed traveling, visiting both the east and west coasts and places in between, as well as many memorable trips to Duluth.  Most of all, Ronald loved his family.  He loved to spend time with his ten grandchildren, sharing his inventions, stories, or a practical joke.  Ronald will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous spirit, and loving heart.  He will be dearly missed.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother William, sister Dolores (Floyd) Young, and brother-in-law Barton Slemmons.

He is survived by his wife June; children Cynthia (Robert) Lakeberg of Stanchfield; Jeffrey (Sandra) Provost of Chandler, AZ; David (Roberta) Provost of Isanti; and Dan (Amy) Provost of Albertville; grandchildren Patrick and Amber Baune, Tanisha (Curt) Sheldon, Joshua, Michael, Aaron, Samantha, Andrew, Nathan, and Sophia Provost; step-grandsons, Travis (Melissa) Lakeberg of East Bethel, MN and Tyler (Ashley) Lakeberg of Braham, MN; great granddaughter Isabella Sheldon; sister Arlene Slemmons of Birmingham, AL; brother Melvin (Elizabeth) Provost of Nampa, ID; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Siloa Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Everett officiating.  Music was provided by Judy Windorski.  Casketbearers were Andrew Provost, Dylan Clark, Patrick Baune, Jeff Gillespie, Mick Morrison and Curt Stromberg.  Honorary Casketbearers were Ron’s grandchildren.  Interment was in the Siloa Lutheran
