Marilyn Knudson, of Mora, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Eastwood Care Center in Mora. She was 79 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Bill Pearson officiating.
VISITATION will be on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
INTERMENT will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Marilyn Margaret Knudson, of Mora, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Eastwood Senior Care in Mora. She was 79 years old.
Marilyn was born on July 12, 1933 in Wright, Minnesota to parents John and Ethel (Rosvold) Herwig. She attended a country school north of Mora and then Mora High School, graduating in 1951. Marilyn moved to St. Paul and began working as a clerk for Prudential Insurance. In 1952, Marilyn met Clarence Lyle Knudson while roller-skating in Rush City, Minnesota. The couple was united in marriage on January 9, 1954. Marilyn and Lyle made their home in Minneapolis and were blessed with two daughters Gayle and Lee Ann. In 1963 the family moved to Blaine and later in 1982 to Spectacle Lake near Cambridge. In 2001 Marilyn and Lyle made their final move to Mora.
As a teenager, Marilyn was an active member in the Mora Saddle Club, riding her horse Rex to town on Sundays and in many local parades. As an adult, Marilyn enjoyed playing scrabble with family and friends. She loved dogs especially her little black poodle Missy. She raised several litters of poodles throughout the years. While living near Cambridge, Marilyn became an active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo. She valued all the friendships and time she spent working with the women’s groups. Most of all, Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother. She will be remembered for her caring and giving spirit. She will be missed deeply.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Herwig.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lyle of Mora; daughters Gayle (Chris) Augustson of East Bethel and Lee Ann (David) Waggoner of Anoka; sister Judy (Daniel) Beckstrom of Princeton; grandchildren Christopher Moore, Craig (Dana) Moore, Lisa Waggoner, Mark (Jenny) Waggoner, and Katie Waggoner; great grandchildren Aaron and Colby Moore, Angel and Annah Moore, Daniel Keller, and Jacob and Emma Waggoner; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Calvary Lutheran Church of Mora with Rev. Bill Pearson officiating. Music was provided by Marie Grundberg. Casket bearers were David Waggoner, Chris Augustson, Christopher Moore, Craig Moore, and Mark Waggoner. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora. Arrangements are by the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.
