Ronald Naumann, of Mora, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at First Light Hospital of Mora. He was 85 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Greggory Coop officiating.
VISITATION will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Ronald Gene Naumann, of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on October 6, 2012, at First Light Hospital in Mora from complications of diabetes. He was 85 years old.
Ron was born on May 25, 1927, in Superior, Wisconsin. Ron grew up in Mora, Minnesota. Ron met his future wife, Mary, while attending Mora High School. He graduated from Mora High School in 1945. After a tour in the Army at the end of World War II, and graduating from Minnesota School of Business, Ron and Mary were married at Zion Lutheran Church, Mora, MN, on October 11, 1947. Ron later was called back into the service during the Korean Conflict and moved his family to Baltimore, MD, for a short time before returning to Mora. Ron and Mary had four children; their children were all baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.
Ron was an insurance agent and employed by Kanabec State Bank/Kanabec Agency during his business career. Ron was very active in the Mora community. He was a member of the Mora Fire Department for 36 years of which 18 years were as the Fire Chief. Ron was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post in Mora and held many lay leadership positions at Zion Lutheran Church.
Ron was a devoted husband and father. He and Mary cherished their time at their cabin with the kids and grandkids. They spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona, where their daughter, Julie, and her family lived. Ron and Mary were happily married 61 years until Mary’s death on September 30, 2008. Ron will be missed.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Julie.
Ron is survived by his children; Mark (Janet) of Moorhead, MN; Dan (Jane) of Columbia Heights, MN; Barb (Kevin) Schaaf of Mora; Son-in-law Frank Cruse of Mesa, AZ; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
