Renee Yvonne Kadlec, of rural Mora, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the First Light Health System in Mora.  She was 77 years old.

Renee was born on May 29, 1935 to parents Orlando and Helen (Johnson) Lind at home on the family farm in Whited Township, Kanabec County.  As a child, Renee attended and was baptized at the Hillman Baptist Church.  She grew up on the family farm with her two sisters and attended country school.  She attended Mora High School, graduating in 1953.   In her junior year of high school, Renee began working at the Kanabec Hospital as an Aide where she continued to work on and off for the next several years.

On September 5, 1953, Renee was united in marriage to Howard Kadlec at the Presbyterian Church of Mora.  Together the couple made their home on their farm, raising three children Denise, David, and Steven.

Renee loved the outdoors and her country home; sitting on her porch swing looking out over the rolling hills beyond.   Renee always had time to take care of her beloved dogs, cats, and other pets, and she loved to watch the many birds that would visit her feeders.  Throughout her life, Renee adored horseback riding.  She would enjoy riding the trails with her family or just riding around the farm.  In the summer months, Renee and the family enjoyed days of waterskiing on Fish Lake and Grindstone Lake.  Renee loved flowers and always had beautiful blooms inside and outside of her home.  She was a fantastic baker, well known for her chocolate chip cookies and pies.   She will be dearly missed by her many family and friends.

Renee is survived by her husband Howard, sons David of Maiden Rock, Wisconsin; and Steven of Mora; daughter Denise of Mora; grandchildren Blaine (Calie), Brandon (Susie), Bjorn (Jenna), Brent, and Jenny;  great grandchildren McKenna, Isabella, Blake, Owen, and Rhiannon; sisters Carol (Abe) Sweeney of Virginia; and Janie (David) Collin of Chaska; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 3rd at Quamba Baptist Church with Rev. Ivan Fiske officiating.  Music was provided by Jim Hill; David, Brandon, Blaine and Bjorn Kadlec.  Pallbearers were Brent Danielson, Brandon Kadlec, Blaine Kadlec, Bjorn Kadlec, Steve Sandberg and David Sandberg.  Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.  Arrangements were handled by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home.

  4. Howard and family; Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. I have wonderful memories of Ranee growing up. i just had a visit with her in the grocery store about 3 weeks ago. She was a wonderful person in every way.

  5. My thoughts and prayers are with Renee’s family-especially Carol and Abe. I’ll always remember feeling welcome when I would stay with Carol when we were all in high school together. Renee and Janie were like sisters when I was there.
May God be with all of you in this time of sorrow.

  6. We have so many memories of times our families have shared –going back to snowmobiling days. It saddens me to hear of this tragedy. I will miss her sweet smile, but I know she is with her Lord and Savior. I care that you are hurting, and I pray that the Lord will be a comfort to you through each coming day. Barbara Jones Melby
