Elizabeth “Betty” Thoeny, of Ogilvie, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Clare Living Community in Mora. She was 81 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie with Rev. Marc Freiberg officiating.
VISITATION will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
INTERMENT will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.
Elizabeth J “Betty” Thoeny (Weiss) passed away on September 5th, 2012 at St. Clare’s Living Community in Mora. She was 81 years old.
She was born in St. Paul, MN on December 13th, 1930 to Bernard and Gertrude (Weber) Weiss. She grew up in St. Paul. On September 12th, 1953 she married William “Ole” Thoeny. They lived in St. Paul for a year and then moved to Lino Lakes. They had three children, Carol, Donald, and David. In 1964, they moved to a farm in Lindstrom. Then in 1969, “Ole” quit his job so they could farm full time. In 1977 they, along with their sons and daughter-in-law, moved to a farm in Ogilvie. She and “Ole” did some traveling; they enjoyed two trips to Alaska. They farmed together until “Ole’s” health declined and he had to retire. He passed away in 2010. Her son, daughter-in-law, nephew and his wife continue to run the farm. Betty stayed on the farm until March 15, 2012; then moved to St. Clare’s Assisted Living in Mora. Her biggest joys in life were family, reading, needlepoint and cake decorating. She will be truly missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband William “Ole”; son David; grandson Andy Raymo; son-in-law Jay Raymo; parents; brothers John, Arthur and Erwin Weiss; sisters Lucille, Darlene, Evelyn and two infant sisters.
She is survived by daughter Carol Raymo of Stillwater; son Donald (Debra) Thoeny of Ogilvie; grandchildren Kevin(Stacy) Thoeny, Brian (Sara) Thoeny, Donald Thoeny Jr and Carrie Raymo; great-grandchildren Briana, Nicole and baby Thoeny; sister Dorraine Ahl of Duluth; brother Donald (Marlene) Weiss of Oakdale; plus many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
