A FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Saturday, June 23rd; 11 a.m. at 2090 Pine Knoll Rd., Mora, MN

Lavern M. Rende died in his sleep on Monday morning, June 18, 2012. Lavern is survived by his wife Mary; his three children; Michelle, Melissa, and Michael; his sister Elaine; brother Vernon and his five grandchildren Natasha, Jordan, Austyn, Jazmyn, and Tylor.

Lavern was born on August 28, 1945 in Brooten, MN and attended school in Glenwood, MN. After high school he attended trade school in Minneapolis to become an electrician. During this time he met his first wife and they had three children. They spent the first 16 years in Minnesota, mostly in Ashby where they enjoyed living on the lake and where they raised their young children. In 1985 the family moved to Arizona and this is where he met his wife Mary. They married in 2006 and lived in Green Valley, AZ near his children and grand children. In 2007 they moved back to Minnesota to enjoy the outdoors and spend more time with his brother and sister there.

Lavern was a strong man who was a nineteen year survivor of pancreatic cancer and was currently struggling with diabetes. He never let his health stop him from fishing, hunting, or gardening. When he wasn’t at home, he was spending time with his brother and his family at the lake. Vern was a story teller and always had a joke. He was the funniest guy he knew. He was loyal, stubborn, funny, and loved his family and friends. Besides his many interests, his love was his grandchildren. To talk with them, to play with them, and to attend their various activities was the thing he missed most about Arizona. Lavern will be missed and his memory will live on in his loving family.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2012, at his brother’s lake home, 2090 Pine Knoll Rd., Mora, MN 55051. All cards can be sent to the same address attn: family of Lavern Rende.
