Ardyce Miller, of Mora, formerly of Grasston, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the St. Clare Living Community in Mora. She was 85 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Hillman Baptist Church in rural Mora.
VISITATION will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, June 7th at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
INTERMENT will be in the Grasston Baptist Cemetery.
Ardyce June Miller was born on June 29, 1926 to parents Dennie and Edith (Hagerman) Amsden on the family farm in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. Born the eldest of five children, Ardyce attended country school near Comfrey, Minnesota. On October 25, 1943, Ardyce was united in marriage to John A. Miller in Windom, MN. Together the couple started their family and throughout the years lived in many different homes around Minnesota. Ardyce loved to cook and worked at a variety of restaurants in the towns where they lived. Ardyce began working at Fingerhut in Alexandria and was given a transfer to the Mora location and she and John moved to a home in Grasston. She worked as an inspector for Fingerhut for many years until she retired in 1989. In 1990, due to John’s declining health, they moved to an apartment in Mora. After John’s death in 1993, Ardyce moved to the Pine Crest Apartments were she was an active member of the apartment community. She took time to drive other residents to shopping and appointments, and contributed food to many potluck events.
Ardyce loved spending time doing craft projects, especially needlepoint. She would often give her latest project to her many family and friends. In her younger years, Ardyce always kept a large garden and would spend hours canning for her family. She enjoyed reading and doing word finds. Ardyce was a member of the Grasston Baptist Church and more recently the Hillman Baptist Church. Most of all, Ardyce loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be missed.
Ardyce is prededed in death by her parents, husband John, son-in-law Dean Olson, brothers Stanley and Mervin Amsden, brother-in-law Donald Carter.
She is survived by her children Judi Olson of Hugo, Jack (Vonnie) Miller of Hastings, Lavon Harris (special friend Jim Walker) of Brooklyn Park, and Dick (Bonnie) Miller of Garfield; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters Arlene Carter of Comfrey, and Bonnie (Marvin) Bottin of Windom; sister-in-law Loretta Amsden of Springfield; many other relatives and friends.
