KENNETH R. THEIS

Kenneth Theis, of  Mora, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the GracePointe Crossing East Gables of Cambridge.  He was 83 years old.

MEMORIAL VISITATION  will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora.

Kenneth Robert Theis, of Mora, MN passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the GracePointe Crossing East Gables of Cambridge, MN.  He was 83 years old.

Kenneth was born August 22, 1928, in Foley, MN in Benton County to Joseph and Lucy Latterell Theis.  He was the second of four brothers.  In 1935 the family moved to Pierz, Minnesota, and then in1937, relocated to Mora, Minnesota.

He attended Mora High School and graduated in 1946.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1946-1948 during the Korean Conflict.  He then met Gloria Jacques, and they were married on September 20, 1952.  They had two children and lived in Coon Rapids until 1960 when they moved to Mora to take over the Ben Franklin Store on Main Street from 1960 to 1971.  He then bought the Crystal Bar in Mora, which he operated from 1971 to 1975.  Right after that he started Ken Theis Income Tax Service in Mora and was an accountant and tax preparer until April of 2004 when he retired.

He was a member of the Mora Lions Club, the Mora Fire Department in the 1960 ‘s and early 1970’s.  He was a member of the America Legion Post 201 in Mora for many years.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trap shooting, golfing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. 

He was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He will be missed by all of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William Theis.

He is survived by his children: son Kevin (Debra) Theis of Mora; daughters Lori Berg of Fridley and Mandy Theis of Cambridge; brothers Robert (Della) Theis of Cambridge, Richard (Fran) Theis of Salem, Oregon; sister-in-law Ardie Theis of Phoenix, AZ;  grandchildren Katie and David Blomdahl of Braham, Angela and Jeff Olson of New Hope, Angela Rowland of White Bear Lake, Nicki Rowland of Duluth; great grandchildren Mathew and Emily Blomdahl; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

    Kevin, So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. I’m sure he will be missed greatly! He was a super guy and always liked.
