Kevin Craig Olson of Mounds View, Minnesota, passed away on March 8, 2012 in his home in Mounds View. He was 53 years old.
Kevin was born February 11, 1959 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Curtis and Clarice (Lind) Olson. He grew up in Columbia Heights, the second of three siblings, the oldest being Larry and sister Nancy.  He was baptized at the First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights and was confirmed at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Kevin enjoyed going to his father’s boss’ cabin on Island Lake during the summers.  He enjoyed having fun tubing, fishing and other outdoor activities.  Kevin also enjoyed camping and fishing at Lake of the Woods.   Kevin enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer as a teenager.  During the winters he loved to snowmobile every chance he could.

Graduating in 1977 from Columbia Heights High School, Kevin grew into a career of printing.  He moved to St. Paul where he purchased his first home with a friend.  When he married his only spouse, Genie, the couple moved to Coon Rapids to start their family by adopting Andrew, their only child.   He loved watching his son grow up and had a big smile on his face every time he would see his son.  After his divorce, Kevin eventually found himself living in Mounds View.  Kevin worked at Land o’ Lakes as a printer before moving on to work at Insty Prints, and finally working at Dadi Graphics as an estimator.
Kevin is preceded in death by his brother Larry Olson and grandparents.
He is survived by his son Andrew (Samantha) Olson of Mounds View, parents Curtis and Clarice Olson of Rush Point, sister Nancy (Mike) Bovy of Pine City, nephew Alex Bovy of Pine City, and former wife Genie Harris of Mounds View; many other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham with Pastor Eric Burgdorf officiating.  Arrangements were by the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.

  1. Our prayers are with the family and friends. I will never forget the time you came to PR and I thought I was so cool because my older cousins were in town! May you rest in peace, Kevin.

  2. It should also be mentioned that Kevin (and Andrew) loved camping at Pathfinder with his sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, every summer for 15 years. Kevin loved cats and almost always had a cat or two living with him. As a genealogist I must point out that Samantha is not Andrew’s wife as this obituary implies. They are engaged, not married. Kevin, I love you and miss you so much.
