Keith Cooper, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 88 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.

Keith Richard Cooper, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was 88 years old.
Keith was born on April 5, 1923 in Somers, Iowa to parents Charles and Ethel (Wahlstrom) Cooper. Born the fourth of eight children, Keith attended Marathon Schools in Iowa until the family moved to a farm near Grasston in 1938. He attended Grasston High School until he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Keith began his military service as an airplane mechanic/ technician and later obtained his pilot’s license while he was enlisted. He continued to serve his country for the next 24 years during both the Korean War and Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed on many bases including Alaska, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, California, and Vietnam. Keith retired from the Air Force on July 31, 1970 and settled in Texas. He worked for Cooper Aeromotive in Texas as an airplane mechanic for several years before landing a job in the Peterbilt factory. He retired from Peterbilt in the late 90’s and came to visit family in Minnesota and stayed. For the first few years he would return to Texas for the winter months, but in early 2000 he became a permanent resident of Minnesota.
Keith liked to spend time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Mason’s. Keith’s greatest love was traveling. He valued his time traveling in the military to so many states and countries across the world. He delighted in discovering back roads and remote locations everywhere he went.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents, siblings William, Fern, Lucille, Margaret, and Pearl.
He is survived by his sisters Helen (Gordy) Heim of Mora, and Marian Beck of Sartell; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating. Music was provided by Elaine Keehr. Military Honors were provided by the Mora American Legion Post #201. Inurnment will be held in the spring at the Oakwood Cemetery.
