Leora M. Reynolds was a native Minnesotan, born to Charles and Wilhelmina (Schultz) Hohn on August 20, 1917 in Lyon County. She was raised with her brothers Walt and Arnold, and her sisters Elviera, Clara, and Dahra. In her teens Leora worked as a baby-sitter and also at other odd jobs.
Leora was united in marriage to William Reynolds on August 20, 1937, in South Dakota. In 1938, Leora and William moved to Mora. In 1942, they purchased a farm north of Knife Lake and resided there until 2003. There they raised four children: Richard, Carl, Robert, and Viola.
Leora was a giving and loving person. Whenever anyone would stop by the farm, she took pleasure in immediately baking rolls, so she could serve lunch to them.
After the kids were grown, Leora worked at Fingerhut in Mora. She retired after twenty years of service. After William’s death Leora lived with her son, Richard; then moved to Maryland and lived with her son, Carl until the development of Alzheimer’s made it necessary for her to move to the nursing home.
Leora enjoyed many things in life, especially gardening and crafts. After her work day at Fingerhut, one could always find her in her garden. Leora loved to grow fruits and vegetables. She had many flower beds on the farm that bloomed each year (a trademark of her own). During the winter months, she enjoyed crocheting, and was always busy making something for her kids or grandchildren.
Leora was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; brother, Ervin, Walt and Arnold; sisters Elviera, Clara and Dahra; daughter-in-law Beverly Gale of Colorado Springs, CO.
Leora is survived by sons Richard (Mable) Reynolds of Mora, Carl (Sharon) Reynolds of Waldorf, MD, and Robert Reynolds of Penrose, CO; daughter Viola Tatro of Brook Park, MN; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other loving family and friends.
