Stanley Mark Utecht was born at Eitel Hospital, Minneapolis to Roman and Frances (Arnold) Utecht on Dec. 13, 1951.  He grew up in Crystal, Minnesota and was the oldest of five children. He attended St. Rapheal’s Catholic School through 8th grade. He graduated from Cooper High School in Robbinsdale, MN in 1969.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduation and served until 1972. He was a radar mechanic, stationed in Germany, during the Viet Nam conflict.

Upon returning home he attended North Hennepin Vocational school for Agri-Business.
He married Rebecca (Becky) Hayes on June 21, 1975 in Minneapolis, MN.  The couple moved to Pipestone, Minnesota and Stan attended Pipestone Vocational school where he completed the meat cutting program.

Stan was employed as a meat cutter in Osseo until 1977 when he and Becky moved to Mora and established their family home with the arrival of Alex in 1977 and Matt in 1989. He was very proud of his family.

Stan worked as the meat manager of National Foods until it was purchased by Reichels and became Festival Foods. He worked at various other grocery stores until becoming employed at Coborn’s of Mora in May, 2004.  Stan was well loved, made friends easily, and enjoyed life in the Mora community.

He was a voracious reader and sports fan.  Stan loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting deer, pheasants and waterfowl. He valued these special times with his buddies.

Stan was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in June, 2011. He faced it with determination, optimism, and grace. He will be greatly missed by many.

  9. We were so sad to hear of Stan’s passing. My mom, Deb La Rocca worked with Stan at Coborn’s in the meat department for many, many years and everytime we went in to see her, Stan was always there with a smile! She misses him so and we will miss his cheery greetings. God has him wrapped in his gentle arms, holding them until it is everyone’s time to be with him again. God Bless!
