Jim Nyman of Stanchfield, formerly of Columbia Heights, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing West Gables of Cambridge. He was 83 years old.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis officiating.
VISITATION will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, September 9th at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham and 1 hour prior to the service at Saturday at the church.
INTERMENT will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham.
James Leroy Nyman, of Stanchfield, formerly of Columbia Heights, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing West Gables of Cambridge. He was 83 years old.
James was born in Stanchfield, Minnesota on February 9, 1928 to parents Roy and Lottie (Engquist) Nyman. He spent his childhood in Stanchfield and in 1949 married Jean Fealy at her parents’ home. In 1952 Jim entered the US Army and served as a tank driver in Germany. After his discharge in 1954, he returned to Minnesota. He became a proud father in 1956 with the birth of his daughter Lori.
Jim was very involved in the VFW in Columbia Heights and served as the post commander from 1961 to 1962. For 31 years, Jim was employed as a machinist at Oildyne Inc. in Minneapolis. In 1978, Jim and Jean returned to Stanchfield and built a house right down the road from the family farm. He also built himself a small machine shop where he put his talents to work making parts and fixing things for many farmers and snowmobilers. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed many hobbies; fishing, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling were some of this favorites. He spent many hours outdoors and lived a long, full life.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lori Milless, and brother Ralph Nyman.
He is survived by his wife Jean, son-in-law Bradly Milless, granddaughters Kendall (Blake) Olson, and Emma Milless; great granddaughter Abigail Olson; brothers Wornie Nyman and Paul (Sharon) Nyman; sister Gladys Woodburn; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis officiating. Music was provided by Ruth Grundyson. Casket bearers were Bradly Milless, Blake Olson, Vern Fix, Marty Johnson, Kevin Hanson, and Pat Bruckdauer. Honorary Casket Bearers were Dale Teich, Pat Teich, Dwaine Johnson, and Kelli Olson. Interment was in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham
