KARL RULDOLPH NELSON

Karl Nelson, formerly of the Crystal and Lewis Lake area , died on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Haven House in Cambridge.  He was 99 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Lewis Lake Covenant Church in Ogilvie with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.

VISITATION will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Rock-Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham from 6-8PM and an hour prior to the service  at the church

INTERMENT will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 12:45 PM in assembly area #5

Karl Ruldolph Nelson, formerly of Crystal and the Lewis Lake area, died on August 27, 2011 at the Haven House in Cambridge.  He was 99 years old.
Karl was born on May 7, 1912 to parents Carl and Hilda (Hanson) Nelson.  He grew up around the Lewis Lake area and later married the girl from across the lake, Eva (Ostrom).  Karl served his country overseas during WWII and returned after being injured in duty while in Germany.  Karl and Eva had two children together, Ross and Karen, that they raised in Crystal, MN.  Karl worked for many years in the VA benefits department at Fort Snelling.  After his retirement he and Eva moved back to the Lewis Lake area where he tended his garden.  Karl was especially good at growing potatoes which he enjoyed sharing with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Agnes, brothers Axel, Oscar, Herman, Raymond, Edgar and son-in-law Lynn Pauls.
Karl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eva, children Ross (Judy) Nelson of Crystal, Karen Pauls of Minneapolis, granddaughter Kim (Ty) Gerloff, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

    Received the Mora paper today and saw the passing of Karl. You have my condolences Eva. I have thought of you many times over the years. I am fine keeping healthy and living on Cape Cod, Ma in the summer and Fl in the winter. I would appreciate hearing from you.
