Eleanor Dalbey, of Thornton, Colorado; formerly of Mora, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Villas of Sunny Acres in Thornton, CO.  She was 96 years old.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE AND BURIAL will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

VISITATION will be from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Akkerman Ingebrand funeral home of Mora.

Eleanor Grace Dalbey passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at The Villas at Sunny Acres in Denver, Colorado.  She was 96 years old.
Eleanor was born on March 24, 1915 to Robert and Grace (Jenkin) Brown at home in Mora, Minnesota.  She attended school through high school in Mora, and received a teaching certificate from St. Cloud State.  She taught in various rural schools throughout the area during her nearly 25 year career. She retired in 1972.  After the death of her husband she moved to Denver, Colorado to be near her children.  During her retirement she was very active in her church, taking care of abused children while the mothers were being counseled, teaching a Korean Sunday School Class, and working in the food pantry.  She was active in the Women’s League of Voters and contributed to numerous charities.  She made a very good income doing companion work for women after their hospital stays.  At the age of 84 she moved to Sunny Acres and lived independently, in assisted living and the medical center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; and daughter Carolyn Parker.
She is survived by her children daughter Janice (Daniel) Collin of San Antonio, TX; son Wendell (Connie) Dalbey of White Bear Lake, MN; and daughter Sylvia Gunberg of Houston, TX; grandchildren Kristina (Keith) Etter, Michael Collin, Aaron Dalbey, Nancy (James) Younger, Kari (Voytek) Jarnot, Bryan Dalbey, Laura Dalbey (Robert Schneider), Stephen (Amy) Parker, Katie Podewils, Ryan (Nikki) Podewils and Patrick Podewils; twelve great-grandchildren; cousin Grace Taper of Detroit, MI; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 4th with Rev. Clyde Dalbey officiating.  Pallbearers were Eleanor’s family.  Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

  1. Mrs. Dalbey was my 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Riverside Country School. I have such good memories of her. She was a wonderful teacher! I will never forget.

  2. Mrs. Dalbey was my teacher 1st thru 6th grade at Riverside elementary. Lots of memories.
    Wish she could have made it to the 100 year reunion of the little country school.
