George Helmbrecht, of Mora, died on Friday July 22, 2011 in Cambridge, MN. He was 84 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011,  at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Monday, July 25 at Akkerman – Ingebrand Chapel in Mora and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

INTERMENT will be at following the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

George Leo Helmbrecht, of Mora, passed away in Cambridge, MN on July 22, 2011. He was 84 years old.  George was born on March 8, 1927 to Ludwig and Theresa (Leminger) Helmbrecht at Winsted, MN. He attended country school through the sixth grade and worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the US Army in 1945 and was Honorably Discharged in late 1946. On February 3, 1962, he married Judy Caza and to this union three children were born; Cathy, Teresa and Cory.
Through the years, George worked at farming and construction. He also worked at Blaw Knox and he retired from the Street Department of the City of Mora in 1989. George was a member of the American Legion and the Lion’s Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, wood working and gardening. He was always ready to help family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers; Joe, Jack, Louie, Leonard, Al and Bill, two sisters; Katherine and Matilda. He is survived by Judy, his loving wife of 49 years, children; Cathy (Willie) Jones of Mora, Teresa (Gene) Banks of Mora, Cory (Branda) of Valparaiso, IN, grandchildren; Vicki (Eric) Watrin, Jeannie (Keith) Rivard, Sarah Lilleboe, Greg (Michelle) Jones, Brent (Jessica) Jones, Allen Banks, Aaron Banks, Melissa Banks, Tina Steinhaus, Mike (Sara) Banks, Bobby Banks, Michael Helmbrecht, Tyler Helmbrecht, Emma Helmbrecht, thirteen great-grandchildren, brothers; Henry, Andrew, Ben, Ed and Isadore. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
