Charles Trueman Boudreau, Charlie, son of Chris and Becky (Strelow) Boudreau, was born on August 3, 2009, in Minneapolis, MN. Charlie’s strong name is derived from his grandfather, Steven Charles Strelow and his grandmother, Catherine Belinda (Trueman) Boudreau and the entire Trueman family. Though Charlie’s life was short and often clouded with illness, complications from his mitochondrial disease and many long hospitalizations, he brought joy, light and hope to everyone he met and so many that he did not. His footprint, while small, has left a great and indelible imprint on our hearts, which will not be forgotten. Charlie showed everyone around him how to love without condition or restraint; he reminded us all to be grateful for that which we often take for granted. Charlie was a quiet soul with a fighting spirit – a courageous Leo from the first breath until his last.

With stunning blue eyes, eye-lashes for miles and hair that anyone would be envious of, Charlie loved classical music, toys with lights, watching his cousins and friends play with him and around him, story-time and his Sophie. He said more with his eyes than he ever did with his lips and though his muscles were weak, his grip was strong.

Charlie is survived by his parents, Chris and Becky, of Golden Valley, MN; by his maternal grandparents, Steve and Jean Strelow, of Mora, MN; by his maternal great-grandparents, Marlyn and Lois Strelow, of Mora, MN and Mary Linneman of Sleepy Eye, MN; by his maternal great-great grandmother, Beatrice Kahle of Mora, MN; by his paternal grandparents, Ronald Boudreau, of Prince Edward Island, Canada and Catherine Boudreau of British Columbia, Canada; by his paternal great-grandmothers, Margaret Moor of Nova Scotia, Canada and Joan Despres of Ontario, Canada; by his aunt and uncles,  Jenny and Zach Boxrud and family of North Oaks, MN, Beth and Zach Smithknecht and family of New Hope, MN and Raoul and Jennifer Boudreau and family of Farmington, MN; eight beautiful and loving cousins and many more extended family.

  1. Our little Charlie brought our family so much joy and love. His purpose here on earth was recognized very early on, to remind everyone to Love God and Love neighbor ! he will now continue to guide us from heaven where he is at peace !! We will love you always “little lion” and try our best to continue your legacy here on earth–until we meet again !!

  2. Chris and Becky,
Just wanted to send my sympathies for your loss and my happiness for Charlie’s gain. You guys did all the right things for all the right reasons and should be proud of having such a great little guy as your Guardian Angel. It was my honor to be one of many to help him through his course.
    Stay well and God Bless,
