Robert Magaard, of Mora, MN died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home. He was 84 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 16th at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogilvie. Rev. Marc Freiberg will officiate.
VISITATION will be on Sunday, May 15th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora; plus 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
INTERMENT will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.
Robert Eugene Magaard of Mora, MN passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was 84 years old.
Robert was born November 24, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to Hans and Marie (Driexler) Magaard. He also lived in Iowa for a short period of time before moving to Willmar in 1940. He grew up on the family farm with his six younger brothers. He was in the National Guard and took up boxing, which he then became a Golden Gloves boxing champion in the middle weight class. He married Dora Grams on April 12, 1952. To this union, seven children were born. They moved to Day, MN in 1956. Robert was a farmer until he retired in 1997. He was also active with the NFO while he farmed. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Mora, MN on the Ann River, where they enjoyed fishing and watching the wildlife.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogilvie, MN. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and farming. Robert was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dora of 59 years, 7 children, Scott (Cynthia) Magaard of Coon Rapids, MN, Thomas (Debra) Magaard of Ogilvie, MN, Robert Jr. Magaard of Mora, MN, Steven Magaard of Braham, MN, Russell (Theresa) Magaard of Ogilvie, MN, Carol (Jack) Breitkreutz of Zimmerman, MN and Kathryn (Randy) Morin of St. Cloud, MN, 16 grandchildren, Jennifer, Danny, Nicole, Chad, James, Derek, Ryan, Andrew, Jeff, Jonathon, Joshua, Justin, Krystal, Hannah, Dayne and Sydney, 5 great grandchildren, 6 brothers, and many nieces and nephews.
