Albert Meyer was born on a family farm at Albertville, MN on March 24, 1924 to Conrad and Rose (Baumgartner) Meyer.
Albert’s great-great grandparents came to America by boat from Prussia in 1848 and settled close to what is called St. Michael, MN. It was “Indian” country back then. Great granddad bought the farm at Albertville, MN; Conrad (Albert’s father) bought the farm after his dad died and his mother was killed in a train accident.
Albert, as a teenager and young man, loved to hunt and trap. He ran a trap line until the fur prices went down. He inherited the farm from his father and later sold it. He bought another farm at Ogilvie, where his mother lived with him until she died in 1982.
Albert married Darlene Tenison in1986. She had two grown sons and a daughter. Albert sold the farm at Ogilvie and moved to Mora. He lost Darlene in 1998 after twelve years of marriage.
Albert then moved into a retirement complex on Bean Avenue (Woodcrest). From there he moved to the Villages of Mora on November 2nd, 2010.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene; and two sisters.
He is survived by three sisters Barbara Tauber of St. Paul, Rosella Heine of Eagan and Laverne Sykes of California. Reva Elstad was a good and caring friend to Albert. He appreciated all that she did for him; and his sisters thank her for that care. Also thanks to the Villa for the good care they gave Albert.
