Wesley Tipp, of Mora, died on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 79 years old.
MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 5th at Grace Lutheran Church of Mora with Rev. Doug Larson officiating.
VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
INURNMENT will be at a later date.
Wesley Merlin Tipp was born in Mora, MN, Kanabec County on July 17, 1931 to Earl and Nora (Edstrom) Tipp. He attended Ogilvie School and graduated in 1949. In 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was sent to Germany where he spent two years. After serving his tour of duty, he came home and got a job working at the Creamery in Ogilvie, where he worked for about 11 years.
On January 17, 1958 he was united in marriage to Marlis Ann Seline at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora, MN. They resided in Ogilvie until 1969. During that time they had two children (Joni and Brad). Then Wesley moved his family to Mora where he worked for Bluewater Yachts as the foreman of final assembly. He continued to work there until 1982. In 1983 Wes and Marlis decided to start a new venture and bought a resort (Pink Diamond) on Ann Lake near Ogilvie, MN. They owned and operated the resort for 24 years and during that time they met a lot of new people and made a lot of new friends.
Throughout his life Wes enjoyed woodcarving, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his baby daughter; parents; brothers Eldon and Robert; his sister Arlene; and son-in-law Kevin Peterson.
He is survived by his wife Marlis; his children Joni Peterson of Mora, Brad (Roberta) of Mora; sister Delaine Klous-Bosinger (Quint) of Apache Junction, AZ; brother-in-law Larry Seline of Vacaville, CA; four grandchildren Tim (Sheila) Peterson, Kimberly (Kim) Carroll, Brittany (Adam) Degerstrom and Ben Tipp; five great-grandchildren Logan, Alexa, Hunter, Jackson and Macy; plus many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service held on March 5, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora with Rev. Doug Larson officiating. Music provided by Terry Nord and Linda Nord. Honorary pallbearers are Wes’ grandchildren and their spouses. Military Honors provided by the Ogilvie American Legion Post 640 and the Mora American Legion Post 201. Inurnment will be at a later date.
