William Posey, of Mora, died on Saturday, February 19, 2011. He was 73 years old.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be at Zion Lutheran Church of Mora on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11 am with Rev. Coop officiating.

VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

INURNMENT will be at Riverside Cemetery of Brunswick at a later date.

William Joseph Posey was born on October 13, 1937 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Robert Amos Posey and Bessie Grace (Bitner) Posey.

Bill graduated from Mora High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. On March 19, 1960, he married Alvera E. Althoff at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora, MN. After living in the Dakotas, they settled in Mora to raise their children Myron, Dean and Jill. From 1973 to 1985, Bill was the owner of B & B Insulation. Starting in 1974 thru 1998, he was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service of Mora.

Along with being a loving husband, father and grandpa, Bill enjoyed telling a good story, square dancing, fishing and hunting. Bill was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church serving as a church elder, Sunday School teacher, various committees and also serving as president.

He will be missed by his loving wife of over 50 years, Alvera; his son Dean and his wife Karen of Camdenton, MO; daughter Jill and her husband Jay Gratzek of Minot, ND; grandchildren Jacqueline of Grand Forks, ND and Jared of Fargo, ND; other family members Hub and Martha Schultz, Jim and Marge Harelson, John and Dolly Posey; uncle Lee Bitner of Shell Lake, WI; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bessie Posey and son, Myron.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 26th at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Greggory Coop officiating. Music was provided by Karen Kirschner-Danielson. Pallbearers were Tom Heuer, Milen DeWitt, Don Kaddatz, Harold Frerich, Dick Johnson, Jerry Nelson, Ted Taylor, Bob Fuller, Arlon Haupert and Larry Elg. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick at a later date.

  1. Jill, Jay and family you sympathies to you at this time of loss. We pray that your faith and fond memories of your dear father will sustain you during this difficult time. Wish we could be there in person, but know that you and your family are in our prayers.

  2. So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. I worked with Bill at General Fab in Pine City for a year or 2. He was one of the supervisors. Always quite a gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult of times. Teddi Thompson
