Private family services will be held at a later date.

INURNMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Marie Jeanette Thoren was born January 7, 1926 on Staten Island, NY to Anthony and Anna (Marotte) Madalone. She was the oldest daughter of seven children, many times thought of as a “second mother” by her siblings because of all she did for them. She attended school on Staten Island. After her schooling, she worked as a secretary at National Lead Company (Dutch Boy Paints) in New York City. While living in New York, she met and married Aaron Theodore (Ted) Thoren on July 23, 1948, and to this union three sons were born. They lived on Long Island, NY and were both employed by the New York State Park Commission at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale, NY from 1951 to 1974. In 1974 they moved to Mora, MN to reside on the Thoren family farm where she remained active and involved in the farm operation until her death.
In her youth she enjoyed figure skating, dancing and Saturday matinee movies; in later years her interests included flower gardening and painting. Marie was always ready and willing to help family and friends and was considered very generous and kind by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, and three brothers, Charles, Salvatore and James.
She is survived by her sons Ted (Ann) of Nashwauk, MN, David (Kathy) of Mora, and Charles of Mora; brothers Anthony Jr. (Margaret) of Staten Island, Andrew (Shirley) of Asheville, NC; sister Josephine Kohnert of Margate, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were made by Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home of Mora. A private family service is planned.
