DICK WYNALDA

D. Wynalda webDick Wynalda, of Ogilvie, died on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at his home. He was 73 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.

VISITATION will be on Wednesday, February 2 at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home from 5-8 pm & 1 hr. prior to service on Thursday

Dick William Wynalda was born on June 19, 1937 in Mora, MN, to Rueben and Alyda (Akkerman) Wynalda. They moved to the family farm when he was 7 years of age. During his youth he was a member of the Ogilvie Christian Reformed Church, and went to school until the 8th grade. He started working at Boatel in Mora; then started to work in the cities at American Hoist as a welder.

In 1968 he met Linda Hermanson and they married on November 8, 1975. They started raising a family with stepson Christopher, son Ross and daughter DeeAnna. He bought the 120 acre family farm. During that time they milked cows, raised pigs, chickens and many other animals on their farm. He continued working at American Hoist until his retirement in 1996. He then worked at the Milaca Golf Course mowing grass and at the Kanabec County Courthouse as a janitor for a short time.

His hobbies included wood working, gardening, lawn mowing and restoring old tractors. He also enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching television and talking with the guys’; going up town many times a day for coffee. In 1998 Dick and Linda moved into the town of Ogilvie. In 2008 they joined Lewis Lake Covenant Church. Spending time with his wife, children and four grandchildren were very special times for him. He dealt with many health issues during his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Benjamin; and stepson Christopher.

He is survived by his wife Linda of Ogilvie; son Ross Wynalda of Ogilvie; daughter DeeAnna and husband Bill Schmakel of Mora; grandchildren Logan, Quentin and Ethan Wynalda and William Schmakel; three sisters Dena Packard of Oak Grove, MN, Clara (Jim) Buchholz of Bloomington, MN, and Cathy (Allen) Fradette of Milaca; many nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dick will be dearly missed by many family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 3rd at Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Robert DeYoung presiding. Music was provided by Diane Sutton, Dan Engblom and Rick Anderson. Pallbearers were Curtis Buchholz, Lynn Rae Buchholz, Logan Wynalda, Quentin Wynalda, Allen Fradette and Duane Hermanson. Final disposition by cremation.
