Larry Poorker, of Mora, died on Monday, December 27th at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN. He was 63 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 29th at Fish Lake Chapel in rural Mora.
VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 28th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora; plus 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
BURIAL will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora at a later date.
Larry Leroy Poorker was born on March 14, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm in Mille Lacs County and attended rural school near Foreston, MN through the 8th grade. At age 18 he started working for the DNR in Mora and remained there for 14 years. For 7 years he worked at Hon MetFab; and then 10 years at Dickies Portside Resort on Mille Lacs Lake.
Larry’s hobby was fishing and he went on many fishing trips to Michigan and Canada.
He lived with his mother for the past 15 years. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his mother Norma McGraw of Mora; sister Kathy Port and her husband Harold of Mora; brothers Alan McGraw and wife Kathy of Sebeka, and Arnie McGraw and wife Gina of Mora; plus six nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 29th at Fish Lake Chapel in rural Mora, with Rev. Bob Bohachek presiding. Music was provided by Rachel Vreeland. Pallbearers were Nick McGraw, Craig McGraw, Gary Fix, Corky Nelson, Bob Olson and Dick Wentworth. Inurnment will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery.
