R. Wahlstrom webRalph Wahlstrom, of Ogilvie, died on November 21, 2010 at the Signe and Olivia’s Care Center. He was 84 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 24th at Lewis Lake Covenant Church in rural Ogilvie.

VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 23rd at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home; plus one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

INTERMENT will be at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.

Ralph Delois Wahlstrom was born Oct. 12th. 1926 in Brunswick township, Kanabec County, to Normal T. and Elsie V. (Bolin ) Wahlstrom. He grew up on the family farm. He was the second oldest of five siblings. He attended Country School, and then graduated from Ogilvie High School in 1944. He joined the Army Corp. of Engineers, serving from 1945 to 1947. He supervised Bridge Building and Heavy Equipment.

He married Evangeline K. Fredrickson on September 2, 1950. They had three sons and adopted a fourth. The family lived on the farm in Southfork Township, where Ralph lived all his life. He was proof that hard work and perseverance resulted in success and always took care of his family.

Besides farming all of his life, he worked for the Great Northern Railroad from 1947 to 1955. He enjoyed serving on the local Boards, including Ogilvie School Board, Co-op Creamery, Kanabec Extension, Kanabec Welfare, and 25 years each, on the Farm Credit and Kanabec Soil and Water.

His hobbies were his Gravel Truck and Backhoe, which he turned into a business.

Ralph had the Old Fashioned Quality’ of Helpfulness and Consideration of others. He could get along with anyone and did.

He was preceded in death by his (parents) Normal & Elsie Wahlstrom, his (wife) Evangeline and one (sister & brother-in-law) Hazel & Vince Sohlstrom.

Ralph is survived by his brother Donald and wife Carol Wahlstrom; sister Dolly and husband Ervin Kleinsasser, and sister Betty and husband Val Wenger;
his sons Greg and wife Donna Wahlstrom; Brad and wife Linda Wahlstrom; Rick Wahlstrom & Michael Wahlstrom; eight grandchildren & eight great- grandchildren.

A Special Thanks, to everyone at Signe & Olivias Assisted Living Home and to St. Jude Hospice, for Ralph’s last months.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 24 at Lewis Lake Covenant Church with Rev. Bob DeYoung presiding. Music was provided by Diane Sutton and Jason Wahlstrom. Pallbearers were Lucas Rollings, Roy Biederman, Oscar Biederman, Chad Wahlstrom, Shawn Wahlstrom and Jason Wahlstrom. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Nordstom and Jeff Peterson. Ogilvie American Legion Post 640 provided military honors. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Ogilvie.

  2. Ralph was a great neighbor and one of the pillars of the community. He was always very kind and helpful to me. I was so glad I got to know him a little better in his final years.
