A. Barnick webArnold Barnick, age 95, of Mora and Coin area, died on Thursday, October 14th, 2010 at the Westview Rehab Center in Mora. He was 95 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICE will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 16th at Zion Lutheran Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arnold Wilhelm Barnick was born January 14, 1915 to parents Paul and Ida (Thilker) Barnick in Foreston, MN. He spent his childhood in Onamia until the family moved to the Mora area. After Arnold graduated from Mora High School in 1933, he began working winters as a commercial logger in the mountains of Port Angelus, Washington. During this time, Arnold enjoyed boxing, and was titled a “Golden Glove”. In the late 1930’s Arnold bought the family farm near Coin where he milked Dairy Cattle and raised crops. One day while paying his electric bill in Braham, he met Lois Wentworth. Arnold and Lois were united in marriage on May 22, 1948 in Minneapolis, MN. Arnold and Lois continued to farm and raised their three children. In November of 2009, due to declining health, Arnold and Lois left the farm for an apartment in Mora.

Arnold had many hobbies including all types of hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. Arnold served on the Coin School Board in his younger years, and was the Land O’ Lakes Dairy Farmer of the Year. Arnold had a very active church life. He was baptized in 1915 in Milaca, and confirmed in 1928 in Onamia. He later became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Mora, where he served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and participated in various bible study groups. He will be missed by his many family and friends.

Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois; sons Loren (Judy) Barnick of Mora, Dale (Wendy) Barnick of Mora; daughter Mary (B.J.) Nordenstrom of Mora; Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren Chad (April) Barnick (son Gavin); Aaron (Jennifer) Barnick (son Derek & daughter Kaitlyn); Adam (Sara) Nordenstrom (son Ben & daughter Haley); Joe Nordenstrom; Neil Barnick; and Alec Barnick. Arnold is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Greg Coop presiding. Casket bearers were Arnold’s six grandchildren. Music was provided by Karen Kirschner and Ruthann Telander. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery of Mora.
