E. Venner webEllen Venner, of Ogilvie, died on Thursday, July 29th at her home.

MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be 1 hr. prior to the service on Tusday at the church.

INURNMENT will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Ellen E. Venner was born on May 23, 1928 to parents Oscar and Sophia (Maki) Eld in Aitkin, Minnesota. She attended school in Aitkin, Lawler, and McGregor before she was united marriage at age sixteen to Fred Mahler. To this union four children were born, Maxine, Sandy, Judy, and Sharon. The family lived in Duluth, where Ellen raised the children and worked as a waitress.

Ellen was united in marriage to Joseph Hunsanger, and together the couple added six more children to the family, Debra, Josie, Ted, Cindy, Brian, and Teresa. In 1969, Ellen, Joe and the family moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a sales clerk at Sears. In 1973, after Joe’s death, Ellen moved to Inver Grove Heights, were she met and married Charles Venner.

Ellen began working for Blue Cross Insurance Company in 1975 where she worked as a claims adjuster until her retirement in 1993. After her retirement she moved to the cabin’ in Mora where she enjoyed working in her garden and spending more time with her family.

Ellen was a truly giving person. She spent much of her retirement years volunteering her time at the seven county senior federation, with the ladies aide at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and many other places. Ellen was fondly known as the goody lady’ and everyone at One More Time thrift store in Mora would look forward to Tuesday’s and Friday’s when Ellen would bring in a special homemade treat to share. She loved cooking and baking for her many family and friends. Ellen had a true passion for taking care of others. She took care of so many of her neighbors and friends by cooking for them, and driving them to appointments. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fred Mahler, Joseph Hunsanger, and Charles Venner, daughter Maxine Pearson, and siblings Elsie, Ruth, Rudolph, Arnold, Albert, Robert, James, Virginia, Wesley, Ethelyne, Edna, and Kenneth.

She is survived by two sons Ted (Karen) Hunsanger of CA; and Brian (Susan) Hunsanger of Inver Grove Heights; seven daughters Sandy (Stanley) Kolwalski of GA; Judy (Bill) Wuorio of Isle, Sharon (Jay) Christensen of ID; Deborah (Steve) Rotondi of CA; Josie (Andy) Berglund of AZ; Cindy Hunsanger; and Teresa Hunsanger of East Bethel; 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, special friend Richard Pollock, also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mora with Rita Clasemann presiding. Music was provided by Kris Paulson. Inurnment was in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Mora.

    I so enjoyed our last talk together. Who would have ever guessed we had so much in common? I wish I would have taken the time to get to know you better. I’m sure we will continue our conversation again someday. Love Kris
