Hiram Peterson, of Braham, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Grace Pointe Crossing West in Cambridge. He was 88 years old.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis presiding.
VISITATION will be held from 5-7 pm on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Home of Braham.
INTERMENT will be in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham.
Hiram Logan Peterson, of Braham, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Grace Pointe Crossing West Gables in Cambridge. He was 88 years old.
Hiram was born on January 22, 1922 in Bay County, South Dakota to parents Henry and Clara (Amundson) Peterson. Hiram was one of thirteen children. He was fondly called “Howdy” by his family and friends. He attended country school until 8th grade when he was old enough to work on the family farm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lily Lutheran Church in Lily, South Dakota.
Hiram was united in marriage to Maxine Lottie Cypher on July 18th, 1948 in Clark, South Dakota. Together the couple raised five children, Davis, Harvey, John, Marie, and Darlene. In 1952 the family moved to Minneapolis where Hiram worked as a custodian at the Columbia Heights Municipal liquor store for twenty six years. In 1959 Hiram and Maxine moved to the farm in Stanchfield where they raised dairy cattle and farmed. From 1979 to1988 Hiram worked at the Cambridge State Hospital.
Hiram enjoyed going to auctions and finding a “great buy”. He also enjoyed several trips to Arizona and Alaska, and returning home to South Dakota. Hiram was a member of the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Hiram is preceded is death by his parents, wife Maxine, granddaughter Theresa Peterson, son-in-law George Watrin, brothers Orville, Clinton, Voyle, Marvin, Curtis, and Bernelle; sisters Eunice, Doreen, and Aldred.
He is survived by his children Davis Cypher of Coon Rapids, Harvey (Georgia) Peterson of Mora, John Peterson of Mora, Marie Watrin of Sandstone, and Darlene (Ted) Koskela of Dalbo; 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren; brothers Almond (Marlys) Peterson of South Dakota, and Kennard (Marie) Peterson of Washington; sister Henrietta Anderson of Las Vegas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Rich Chronis presiding. Music was provided by Ruth Grundyson and Rich Chronis. Casket Bearers were Troy Watrin, Matthew Watrin, Mark Watrin, John Watrin, Justin Watrin, and Caleb Ward. Interment was in the Rice Lake Cemetery of Braham.
