Helen Kringen, of Mora, MN, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Scandia House in Mora. She was 95 years old.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 1st at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora.
VISITATION will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, February 28th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home in Mora, and also 1 hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
BURIAL will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Helen Kringen was born in rural Todd County, Minnesota on May 17, 1914, to Joseph and Amelia (Lenecic) Gaffke. She was united in marriage to George Kringen on November 4, 1933, in St. Paul. They operated a farm in Fawn Lake Township, Todd County, for nearly 60 years. She was a home maker and an integral partner in the farm operation. They sold their farm in 1992 and moved to Mora. Helen suffered a stroke in April, 2009. She has been residing at Scandia House in Mora for the past 10 months.
During their farming years, Helen and George were active members of the Philbrook Church of Christ. She participated in the Ladies Aid ministry and other church activities. Helen was an excellent baker and known for her homemade bread and other baked products.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, daughter Delores Macauley, daughter-in-law Beverly Kringen, brothers Joe, Bill, Adolph and Frank Gaffke, and sisters Etta Oldenburg, Tillie Sinotte, and infant Anna.
She is survived by two sons, Darrell and wife Georgia Kringen of Mora, Roger and wife Marcia Kringen of Colville, Washington, and one daughter, Janice Pettersen and husband Clark of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral service was held Monday, March 1st at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mora with Pastor Vic Elfstrom officiating. Music was provided by Charlotte Elfstrom. Pallbearers were Ryan Pettersen, Rod Pettersen, Kim Kringen, Laryn Macauley, Doug Macauley, Todd Vreeland and Lee Vreeland. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
