J. Ostrowski web photoJohn Ostrowski, of Mora, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Belle Plaine, MN. He was 91 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 16th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mora.

VISITATION will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 15th at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home, plus one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

INTERMENT will follow the service at 2:00 PM at Onamia Catholic Church in Onamia.

John Gerard Ostrowski was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 23, 1918, the son of Walter and Josephine (Swiderski) Ostrowski. He graduated from Onamia High School. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps as an airplane maintenance technician from January 13, 1942 to August 28 in European-African-Middle Eastern Theater. He met Marion Paulson at Mille Lacs Lake in 1947, then on June 10, 1950 they were married. This year would have been their 60th anniversary.

John worked as a contractor for 50 years.

John enjoyed working with wood, hunting and fishing. He also loved vacationing; especially in Arizona, Texas, Hawaii and California. John also liked to go to the shopping malls and people watch’.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Lee Ostrowski.

He is survived his wife Marion of Mora; daughter and son-in-law Alane and Ben Merriman of Victoria, MN; plus nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
