J. Lodin webphotoJim Lodin, of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Villa Health Care Center. He was 76 years old.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Grace Lutheran Church of Mora with Rev Brenda Wicklund and Rev. Doug Larson presiding.

VISITATION will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, December 1st at the Akkerman Ingebrand Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at church.

INTERMENT will be in the Oakwood Cemetery of Mora.

James (Jim) Lodin was born on February 25, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN to Bert and Freda (Jensen) Lodin. In June of that year the family moved to a farm northwest of Braham. Jim went to the Seward Country School. From there he went to Braham High School, graduating in 1950. After working on the family farm for four years, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force. He took his basic training at Lockland Air Force Base in Texas. From there he was assigned to the Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas. In June of 1955 he was assigned to the Fifth Air Force in Japan where he worked in the Targets Division. Jim stayed there until he was discharged in May 1958 in San Francisco.

In June of 1958 he met BarBara Mork. After a short courtship, they got married at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. They lived and worked in Minneapolis until 1970 when they bought a farm north of Mora and lived there until 1978 when they moved to their current home one mile outside of Mora. Jim was a member of the Mora America Legion Post 201.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife BarBara; one granddaughter, one brother and one sister.

He is survived by his three sons David Lodin of Maple Grove; Douglas Lodin and wife Brenda of Brooklyn Center, and Daniel Lodin and wife Karen of Two Harbors; daughter Laurie and Scott Klossner of Stacy; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers Raymond Lodin of Glendale, AZ, and Jerold Lodin and wife Karen of Rush City; sister Lois Lodin of Mora; sister-in-law Lois Lodin of Minneapolis; plus nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 2nd at Grace Lutheran Church in Mora. Rev. Brenda Wicklund and Rev. Doug Larson officiated. Jacki Peterson provided the music. Pallbearers were Jim’s grandchildren Chris Lodin, Nate Lodin, Ben Lodin, Sara Lodin, Kaatji Gomez, Fordes Lodin, Trygve Lodin, Shelbi Klossner, Alex Klossner and Kaitlyn Lodin. Honorary pallbearers were Jim’s great grandchildren Judie Lodin, Jenna Lodin, Trenton Gomez and Jace Gomez. Military honors were provided by the Mora American Legion Post 201. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery.

  1. Jim will be deeply missed. I’ll never forget how nice he was to me when we worked together at EPC. Even after I left EPC, whenever he’d see me, he’d make a point to talk just like he did when we worked together. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  3. God called Jim home to heaven to reunite him with the love of his life, BarBara. For those of us who saw his intense pain and loneliness since her passing, we know Jim is now at peace. My condolences to the family. Jim will be missed.

  4. Jim will be missed very much. Your dad was a great man, I am glad I got to know him and spend time with him when I was growing up. Keep the memories with you always….
