m-nord-web.jpgMarie Nord, of Mora, died at her home on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. She was 74 years old.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 29th at Church of the Nazarene in Mora.

VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

INTERMENT will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.

Marie Annette Nord was born in Dubuque, Iowa on June 24, 1935 to Carl and Florence Dickhoff. She was united in marriage on May 24, 1952, to Donald Hilmer Nord.

Marie was a homemaker and raised five children. In 1974, she began daycare for children. In 1979, she returned to school to earn her Practical Nursing Degree and graduated in 1981. After moving to Mora in 1981, she worked at Kanabec Hospital for two years in addition to starting an Adult Foster Home with her husband Donald. They cared for 45 residents during the 18 years of providing Adult Foster Care before their retirement in 2001.

Throughout her life she was active in her church, and also enjoyed gardening, raising animals, knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Mora Church of the Nazarene. She loved every part of God’s creation and looked forward to going home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; younger sister, Charlotte Switzer; and brother-in-law, Leonard Puglisi.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald; children, Theren “Terry” (Jen) of Mora, Donna Hagen (Daryl) of Duluth, Stephen (Linda) of Mora, Roberta Tipp (Brad) of Mora, Bette Fenske (Gerald) of Eau Claire, WI.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister Carol Pugsley (Lawrence) of Verndale; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were on Sat., Aug. 29, 2009, at Mora Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Melvin Patrick presiding. Music was provided by Terry Nord, Linda Nord and Dustin Hagen. Readers were Gerald Fenske and Daryl Hagen. Pallbearers were Patrick Puglisi, Keith Puglisi, Nathan Puglisi, Luke Mitchell, Morgan Switzer and Rolland Switzer.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Marie. I have many memories of her and Donnie from when I was younger. She will be greatly missed.

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Although I haven’t seen Marie in nearly 20 years I do remember her from when I would visit Bette at your home. She was a lovely woman and raised a wonderful family. May God bless you all with comfort and peace in your time of sorrow.

  3. I am so sorry for the loss of Marie. What a sweet lady she was! There was a time where I spent alot of time with your family and there are so many great memories that I have!!! I loved staying @ the Nord house. She had so much love to give to everyone around!! She will be missed!! My heart & prayers goes out to all of you!
